The relationship between reality and illusion is a primary theme of Jiang Ji’an artistic endeavors, especially as it pertains to objects and their shadows. He is perhaps best known for his inventive installation, Double Room Apartment, which featured two constructed rooms furnished with real tables, Chairs, books, cups and bottles along with the shadows of each of these objects which Jiang skillfully sketched onto the room s’ concrete spaces.
